One of the most photographed bird species on the planet and for very good reason!

Lilac-Breasted Rollers are a stunning mix of pastel colours and a flash of electric blue as they take flight. 

Rollers get their name from a very unique courtship flight display where males swoop down in a fast rocking or rolling motion.

I had dreamt of getting this shot for a long time and finally the stars aligned. This individual was perched fairly close to the road and allowed me to get into position to frame it perfectly where I thought it would fly... 9/10 they don't play ball but today was different.

Just as the sun was setting and I was starting to think about leaving he took off and flew just where I wanted him to - into that gorgeous auburn sunset.

The Artist

Sam is a Conservationist, Writer, Educator and Award-Winning Photographer from the UK.


He has dedicated his life to the protection and conservation of Africa’s wildlife and in doing so, has gained unprecedented access to photograph some of the world’s most iconic species.


His stunning pieces aim to engage, inspire, and educate audiences whilst supporting sustainable conservation initiatives.

Affordable: Fine art is often associated with hefty price tags that most of us simply cannot afford, however, I want my artwork on your wall. I therefore promise to keep prices low and quality high. What's the point in creating beautiful pictures if nobody can afford them?

Ethical: All of my photographs are taken in an ethical manner without disturbing the subject.

Sustainable: If it isn't sustainable and environmentally friendly, I'm not interested.

That is why I have chosen to print on one of the world's most sustainable papers made from 90% bamboo fibres.

However, for me, just being sustainable simply is no longer enough. We need to give back at the same time.

Action: That is why, for every print that you buy, we plant fruit trees in rural Zimbabwe.
