Fine Art Wildlife Photography Print by multi-award winning photographer Sam Turley - White Rhino
Location: Imire Rhino and Wildlife Conservancy, Zimbabwe.
Description: White Rhino Mother, Ntombi, and her five-month-old calf, Tariro, come together in a loving moment.
I was lucky enough to photograph Tariro just after she was born in March 2020, unfortunately shortly after, I was forced to return to the UK for knee surgery and so missed out on her first few months of life. As soon as I returned back to Zimbabwe I dropped my bags and went on a mission to find them. I headed into their favourite grazing area and after driving for no more than twenty minutes, I saw the unmistakable silhouette of mother and calf way off in the distance.
I made my approach and positioned myself at the bottom of the hill in the direction they were heading in. They zigzagged their way through the tall golden grass seeking out the greenest shoots before finally breaking through into an open area where they headed straight towards me.
By walking head on you get a true sense of the size difference between mother and daughter, Little and Large.
